Don Brooks

Don Brooks received his BA Degree in Finance and Accounting and a JD Degree from Duke University, Don began his professional career at Price Waterhouse in Atlanta as a Partner Track Tax Manager.

In 1973 Don joined Peachtree Corners as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer developing a 1,800 acre master planned community. In 1974 he joined The Landmarks Group where he was President and Co-Owner until 1986 and a Board member until the sale of the company in 1994. Landmarks developed, financed, owned, leased and managed 13 million square feet of mixed-use commercial real estate throughout the southeast during Don’s tenure.

In 1986 until today, Don formed a real estate consulting and brokerage firm providing services to a broad range of clients in metropolitan Atlanta.  From 1988 - 1996 he combined his love of motorsports with business by becoming the co-founder of Team Atlanta Motorsports which prepared vintage and contemporary race cars for competition. Sam Schmidt drove a Formula 2 car for Team Atlanta in 1995.

Beginning in 1996, Don became Chief Executive of Beacon Properties Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Beacon was a publicly traded real estate investment trust that developed, owned and managed 25 million square feet of mixed-use commercial real estate nationwide.  Beacon was acquired for $4 billion by Equity Office Properties in 1997.

Don joined The Macauley Companies as Partner and Adviser in 2004. The company developed master planned residential communities in metropolitan Atlanta.  In 2008 Don became Principal of Synergy Resolution Services investing in single family residential, multi-family residential, retail and office real estate in select southeastern markets.

Professionally, Don is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Institute of CPAs, the Georgia Bar Association and has an active Georgia real estate broker’s license.

Don’s community service includes Board member and Treasurer of Conquer Paralysis Now; Life Member of the Duke University School of Law Board of Visitors; Life Member of Saint Joseph’s Health System, Inc. Board of Directors; Board member of Emory Healthcare, Inc.; Board member and President of Echelon Homeowners Association, Inc.; Board Member of “Meet At”, a real professional networking organization and Board member and Treasurer of Legacy Lacrosse, Inc. He is one of the founding board members of Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation, which was rebranded Conquer Paralysis Now in 2015and has been on the Board since 2000.

Don and his wife, Leigh, have four children, four grandchildren and reside in Alpharetta, GA. They attend North Point Community Church.
